Covid-19 Pandemic

COVID-19, commonly known as coronavirus, is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The virus was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019, and has since spread rapidly worldwide, causing a global pandemic. This virus is part of the coronavirus family, which includes viruses that can cause illness in both humans and animals.

How does it Spread?

The primary mode of transmission for COVID-19 is through respiratory droplets when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes. The virus can also be spread by touching a surface contaminated with the virus and then touching one’s mouth, nose, or eyes. The symptoms of COVID-19 range from mild to severe, and can include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, and loss of smell or taste. Some people may not show any symptoms but can still transmit the virus to others.

To slow the spread of COVID-19, it is essential to take preventative measures such as wearing masks, practicing social distancing, frequently washing hands, and avoiding large gatherings. Vaccines have also been developed and are effective in preventing severe illness and hospitalization.
